One of the distinctive features of the Broyhill School of Management is the flexibility that exists within the majors and minors. Although some required courses exist, a substantial portion of an individual's degree can be tailored to fit his or her specific interests. Independent study courses and even internships can be substituted in for credit towards a major in many circumstances. International study is highly encouraged and opportunities for travel are nearly endless.
Classes are engaging as well as demanding. Concepts are learned, although the discussion doesn't simply end with the right answer. A tremendous amount of focus is dedicated to the process of problem-solving and developing a multi-lateral understanding of a concept and how it influences other things.
It isn't all work and studies however. Student clubs are active as social circles and have a tremendous amount of fun competing in regional competitions, holding meetings, or throwing parties. On rainy and cold days, a professor or two has been known to bring and serve hot apple cider or hot chocolate to students. Barbeques at teacher's houses are common. "People who care" is a popular slogan of the University, and the Broyhill School of Management staff and faculty exemplify it better than anyone. They are people who care about an individuals future more than his or her grades.
On the whole, an education from the Broyhill School of Management can give a student the confidence and knowledge to be an entrepreneur or a manager in any type of setting or environment. Although success is never guaranteed, the focus on mentorship and personal development give a graduate the best chance to attain lofty goals and aspirations.
