Student Organizations

A number of student
organizations exist at the Broyhill School of Management.
Institute of
Management Accountants (IMA)
The
Institute of Management Accountatns (IMA) is the leading professional
organization devoted exclusively to management accounting and financial
management. IMA membership helps you stay abreast of the changes
affecting the management accounting and financial management profession, as
well as providing new insights and ideas in this evolving field.
With approximately 80,000 members, hundreds of local chapters, and several
international affiliates, only the IMA offers its members a high level of
personal and professional development through education, certification in
management accounting skills, and association with fellow management
accounting and financial management professionals.
Student Investment
Club (SIC)
The
Gardner-Webb University Student Investment Club manages a $25,000 portfolio
by selecting and presenting stocks, managing dividends and capital gains,
and buying and selling stocks.
The purpose of the Club
is two-fold. First, the Investment Club is a practical way for GWU students
to gain valuable experience in researching, selecting, and managing an
investment portfolio. Secondly, the Investment Club will fund academic
scholarships to business students through the University's endowment fund.
In managing the fund, students meet weekly during the academic semesters to
present research and decide allocation of resources. On occasion, the
Club also invites investment professionals from the local community to share
their insights.

SIC website may be accessed by following this link.
